It was still cold. There was still snow on the ground. The sound of helicopters assessing tree damage along the train tracks could be heard flying not to far off.  March really has come in like a lion, and we set out to assess what had happened in the park and the work that needs to be done. Nature had already started doing yard work at the park before we had gotten there. The recent storms blew down many branches, and the wind and weight of the wet snow had actually caused some of the trees to become uprooted.

A good portion of the morning on Saturday was spent sawing down branches and a few trunks from trees that needed to be removed.  We lost one tree by the front entrance, and several small trees inside the meadow. Walking throughout the park, we also took a look to see if anything else needed attention, and to assess the general park. We’ve had a lot going on over the past year in the park, and there is still much to do, but with the continued efforts of our staff and volunteer workers, things will really start to shape up in the meadow area as we look forward to Spring and Summer.
